It was a struggle to for both Sable and Carlos to retrieve their horses, Sable was assigned to ride Excalibur's Stone the daughter of the known broodmare Heart of Stone, she produced furious foals with the fight to come from the bottom to rise from the top. Carlos had Dancing Fool on his roster and he was a spunky colt, Bane could be a nice horse in one minute to a stubborn one the next minute. Comparing them to My Remedy was something Meredith was not looking forward to. Remedy was one their undercard racers a sweet stallion with the heart to win.
The stallion would definitely come to school these kids on the edge of racing but they were here for fun and practice after all. The three of them turned their horses to be in a line as if it was a dual race to see who was better. "So let's wager shall we? Who ever wins buys us dinner and whoever loses washes the stalls for a week." Sable said making things interesting as Meredith shrugged her shoulders and sighed. "Fine your on Sable..how about you Carlos?" Meredith looked at Carlos who was nodding his head and got ready. They all waited for a moment before their horses started out with Dancing Fool rushing the lead with Excalibur's Stone hot on his trail and Remedy to the back to take his time.
Bane kept up his strides evenly when Cali started to stalk the colt her fiery passion throwing herself to the outside to push the colt to his limits. Meredith held Reme back to let the front runners battle it out and tire before allowing Remedy to take his turn at the battle. The back stretch came as fast as it could when Cali stole the lead from Bane whipping her tail as she passed him. "That's it Cali let's go!" Sable said letting Cali take off from Bane who was just on the inside of her hind.
Meredith saw an opening and waiting for the pole marker she made a kissing noise with her lips and released Remedy from all holdings and the stallion began to release his saved energy to come up on the far outside of the pack his strides pushing faster and faster until he was passing the grey filly and her battling partner. The homestretch appeared and Remedy was ahead now by three lengths and Dancing Fool took his place ahead of Cali and came in second behind Remedy leaving Excalibur Stone last by a head. Sable became upset but he would honor his wager and shook his head as they stopped.
"Look's like Meredith is buying us dinner so worth cleaning out the stables." Sable said with his humor still grasping the surface. The jockey's laughed as they returned to the stables so the horses could prepare for their races where they would claim their victories.
